Learn to Sew! With Catherine Petrosino

Do you want to learn the basics of sewing or need a refresher because you haven’t sewn in a while? Bring your machine in to learn how to operate your sewing machine while you make a small pouch! If you don’t own a machine, you can use one of our class machines.

What you will learn:

the correct way to wind a bobbin
how to thread your machine
navigating the basic functions on your machine
how to operate the machine whether it is mechanical or computerized
basic cutting and pinning techniques
basic sewing techniques (straight and curved seams and pivoting)
the basics of needles, thread and bobbins to set your sewing up for success

If you do not own a machine: Please let us know in the “notes” section at checkout that you would like to use one of our class machines.

If you are bringing your own sewing machine: You must know that the machine is good working order. Older machines that have not been used in many years may need to go in for service before class (which can take up to a few weeks).

PLEASE bring the following for your machine:

machine, foot pedal and power cord
accessories that came with the machine
instruction manual (if you don’t have one you should be able to download one off of the internet through the brand name of your machine)

All materials needed for class - fabric, thread and velcro - are included in the price of the class, so you will pick that out when you arrive for class.
