*GUEST EDUCATOR* Think Outside the Quilt - Creative Approaches to Fabric with Seth Apter
We our pleased to introduce a new FreeSpirit Fabrics designer, Seth Apter! Although Seth is new to fabric design, he is an accomplished a mixed media artist, instructor, author, and designer from New York City. He came to the world of art later in life, transitioning from a full-time career as a psychologist to a full-time artist and maker. Seth's artistic practice is focused on story and the spirit of community and collaboration. He believes in the power of art to bring people together. His work has been exhibited in multiple exhibitions and can be found in numerous books and national magazines. Seth has also published two books of his own, The Pulse of Mixed Media and The Mixed-Media Artist. His love of the creative energy that occurs when artists are brought together has led him to spend a great deal of time teaching workshops - both online and in person across the world. Closer to home, he is an instructor at Pratt Institute in NYC. As a designer, he has created collections with many companies over the years, including Impression Obsession, StencilGirl Products, Spellbinders, Emerald Creek Craft Supplies, WOW, Aladine and PaperArtsy. Art for him is everything and sharing the process in all these different forms makes it even better.
Join us for an interactive Meet & Greet with Seth as he introduces his "Storyboard" collection of fabrics, discuss his artistic process, show samples of his work, and demo a small project.
