Embellishing Techniques with Mary Ann Kotowski
Create a unique embellished decorative cloth using techniques on your sewing machine that are fun and so simple to do. This piece can be used to make a pillow, tote, or a table runner! In this class you will learn creative ways to use the decorative stitches on your machine. These techniques include: working with a twin needle, using bobbin work (using heavier threads that can't be put in the needle), and couching with yarns. These are decorative techniques can be used on many different projects!
Supplies List: (available at Sew Right)
-Tone on Tone Main Fabric 2 Squares 15" x 15" (like grunge fabric)
-Shirt Tailor Interfacing (2 Squares of 15" x 15”)
-1 3.0mm twin needle
-1 spool of Metrosene Thread to match main fabric
-1 bobbin wound with Metrosene Thread
-1 empty bobbin
-couching foot (call the store for knowing which foot is appropriate for your machine)
-specialty bobbin case or 2nd bobbin case to manipulate the tension
-1 spool of Razzle Dazzle thread to compliment your fabric (assorted colors are available at Sew Right)
-3 different colors of embroidery thread to compliment your fabric
-8 yards of yarn to compliment fabric (ex: yarns with metallic in it add great sparkle)
