It is with much excitement as well as much emotion that after 33 years,
Sew Right Sewing Machines has a new owner, Steve Gruber.
First, please know that nothing will change for our customers on warranties from all previous, present and future sales and repairs. All gift cards and deposits will be honored and our frequent buyer club will continue. All classes will continue, with many more being added, including major educational events. There will be nothing different for you, our customer when you come in or call Sew Right....
We are still Sew Right!
The same wonderful staff will be here to help you, as they have for years.
I will still be around lending my help and support in any way I can to insure a smooth transition.
After spending my entire adult life in this wonderful business and building Sew Right from scratch, from a small store selling Singers in 1983 into the most recognized and respected sewing machine center in New York, it was important for me to find someone to take over who has the same values and integrity as myself and my staff and with the experience necessary to run the business. It was also important to me that the Sew Right name would continue for many years to come and that my staff would really like the new owner.
It was truly fate that I found that person in Steve Gruber, and that he was more than excited to take over Sew Right.
Sew Right has signed a new long term lease and Steve will be here full time and is anxious to meet all of Sew Right's customers! He is super friendly, honest and knowledgeable, and is the right person to take over and continue Sew Right's dedication to offering our customers only the best products, prices, service and classes. I know you will like him as much as myself & my staff do. He's a great guy and he knows his
stuff, being in the sewing machine business for over 25 years.
As most of you know, we are like family here. Mary Ann, Elaine, Laurie, Sue and Jim have all been here with me for anywhere up to 18 years, with most of them customers long before they started working for me. I hear it every day from customers as well as others in the business about how lucky I am to have such a great staff. They have made Sew Right what it is and I thank my lucky stars and have always thought how blessed I was to have these great, caring people work for me for so long? I am so happy that this family will continue to be here to help, teach and laugh with the customers of Sew Right, just like they always have, for many more years.
On a personal note:
I want to thank you for making it such a joy to come to work. Most people I run into outside of work have no idea how wonderful the sewing business is. Sew Right has been a cross between Cheers, (where everyone knows your name) to an old time hardware store (where you can get just about any crazy part for sewing machines that are new or 100 years old) to a store where you get old fashion service, whether it's helping you find a button that matches to helping design that next quilt, to showing you how to use that machine again that you bought from us 25 years ago and forgot how to use, and of course repairing all those machines better than anyone! It's also the hugging, laughing and crying with customers you've known for years and years...People moving 1000 miles away and still sending you their machine to repair.
A retail business is hard....dealing with the public every day is not for everyone. But when you have such great customers, and a staff that loves helping people, at the end of the day it is all worthwhile, and I wouldn't change a moment of it for anything.
(except maybe pitching for the New York Yankees)
My wife is a retired teacher and has been waiting for me to join her for a few years now. It's time for me to spend more time with the love of my life, who I've been with for over 40 years, and let someone else take care of the day to day business end of things. Thank you again for your friendship, your support and your business all these years and the next time you see me at Sew Right, I will not be the boss, just another member of this great family that loves seeing and helping our friends & customers.

I am thrilled that Harvey has entrusted me with Sew Right Sewing Machines. Harvey and I have known each other for over 25 years and we had partnered together many times in the past, as he also had with my father.
A little bit about me:
I have been in the Sewing Machine and Embroidery business since 1988. Following in my Grandfather's and Father's footsteps in a store in Jackson Heights, NY, which my grandfather opened in 1932. I am the third generation to be serving customers in the highly-specialized Sewing & Embroidery machine field in sales, repairs, and customer training and education.
I keep myself educated on new products, techniques & accessories, and I always pay close attention to customer service. By attending conferences and educational forums and participating in roundtables with the nation's top dealers, I have created a national network that provides deep product knowledge and access to hard-to-find parts, machines and accessories.
Also, I am very excited to begin my new collaboration with the highly knowledgeable and respected "Sew Right" team, a family of caring and dedicated professionals.
As part of my experience in Sewing and Embroidery, I recognize how important repairs are for our customers, and Sew Right's renowned service department is one of the best in the business.
Finally, I am thrilled and excited to have been given the opportunity to carry on the legacy created by Harvey with Sew Right Sewing Machines.
