The Blooming Four Patch with Judy Doenias

This spectacular quilt looks complicated, but is actually easy to make. It's the fabric that creates the flow of color or "the bloom". Although the original is a nine patch, Judy has simplified the pattern to a four patch. Quilters of all levels will enjoy this project, but beware-it becomes addictive and you probably won't stop at one. Rotary cutting and basic machine skills are necessary. The book, "Tradition with a Twist" is required.

Required book: "Tradition with A Twist" by Blanche Young & Darlene Young Stone Part of the first class will be used to choose fabric. The following amounts of fabric will allow you to make the quilt shown in the book. I have made several variations of the pattern and will discuss the possibilities of changing the pattern by adding or decreasing fabrics, making the blocks bigger or smaller and changing the design to a "Blooming 4 Patch". So, just use the amounts given as a guide and if you are willing to be adventurous, buy a little more.
