Interleave Quilt with Judy Doenias

Interleave quilts are pieced quilt-as-you-go with thin strips of fabric sewn to a foundation of backing and batting. The design comes from using two different sets of fabrics cut into strips and placed alternately on the foundation. This creates a complex design as if you were seeing two images through venetian blinds. In this one-day workshop, you will make a small piece, about 18" square which can be used as a wall hanging or placemat, but can also be combined into a larger piece by sewing several together.

Requirements:
Supply list: 5 fat quarters or pieces cut from your stash to that approximate size. One of these will be the back of the quilt. The other 4 should work together with enough contrast to have each fabric stand out from the others so the design will be evident. One piece of thin cotton batting cut into a 20" square Large rotary ruler and sharp rotary cutter and medium sized mat at least 18" wide Fabric scissors Sewing machine with 1/4" foot-if you need one reserved for you-call the store. You will be sewing in this workshop. Thread for the bobbin should coordinate with the back fabric. Top thread can be of your choice. Two pencils-one black, one light color to show on a dark fabric if you choose to have a dark fabric Pins and other basic sewing items like a seam ripper, etc. You must download instructions from the web. There are 14 pages. Input "How to make an interleave quilt Lorrie Faith Cranor." If you have difficulty, please email Judy at judy@doenias.com
