Triple Four Patch Quilt with Judy Doenias

Four patches are fun and easy to construct so what can be better than tripling your fun! This block can be set in many different ways to enable you to create beautifully graphic designs. The sample is made with batiks and each block uses a combination of three or four different fabrics for a very scrappy look, but you can use coordinated and/or non- batiks as well.

Requirements:
Fabrics: This quilt can be made in any size. Each block finishes to an 8" square, so if you want to make a particular sized quilt, just keep on making blocks. It really works well with a scrappy look so I suggest you think about which fabric you will use in an individual block as you go along. It is perfect for use with fat quarters, jelly rolls, charm packs and any scraps you may have from leftover projects. Each block is made from three different sized squares-the smallest will be cross cut from 1 1/2" strips. The medium squares are cut 2 1/2" and the largest are cut 4 1/2". Each block uses three different fabrics, one each light, medium and dark. It's really important that the light fabric contrasts with the medium fabric so your eye follows the light path through the quilt. For the first class select enough fabric to make about 4 or 5 squares or if you’re really fast, bring more. Supplies: -Rotary cutter, -24" rotary ruler, -square rotary ruler (an 8 1/2" square is great. It can be used to cut all of the pieces but if you have a 4 1/2" and a 2 1/2" square as well, it makes cutting the smaller pieces easier. -Small rotary mat -Basic sewing supplies (pins, seam ripper, scissors, thread, etc.) -Sewing Machine, or if you want, you can reserve a machine to use at Sew Right.
