Kaleidoscope and Shadow Quilt As You Go with Judy Doenias

This class is a combination of two of Judy's obsessions: the four square kaleidoscope and her quest to make every design into a quilt-as-you-go project. The setting for the center squares is designed to make the squares appear to be floating and casting shadows on the background.
Skill Details:
All Skill Levels
Requirements:
For a 6 block quilt you will need one yd. of background fabric and 1/3 of a yd. of a darker fabric that will appear to be a shadow on the background. In addition, each block needs a backing fabric and batting which you need for the first class since we will be constructing each block as a separate quilted block. You can use one fabric for the entire back or a separate fabric for each block. Judy likes to use a different fabric for each block which makes her quilts reversible. If you use one fabric, 1 yd. will be enough for a 6 block quilt. If you use different fabrics, cut a 14" square for each block. Batting: One crib or twin sized cotton batt (for the first class cut 2 14" squares of batting and 2 14" backing fabric squares. Sewing machine with a walking foot if you have one. If your machine has a foot tension adjustment, a walking foot is not necessary. small ruler #2 pencil Thread for your bobbin will appear on the reverse of your quilt. Choose a color to coordinate with your back fabric.
