106: Not Just Another Dress Clinic with Ruth Cabble



If you’ve taken a class with Ruth before you know that it is equivalent to taking a professional class at FIT or better! A basic dress is a classic staple for every wardrobe. In this class, you’ll learn how to select a dress pattern style that will work with your body type as well as one that offers features that permit easier fit. Ruth will focus on bodice-fitting as that is crucial to the look of your garment. It's time to work with necklines, armholes, facings, and darts. Ruth will share her years of teaching experience in helping you create a stunning simple dress. This class will cover:

-Neckline and armhole seam finishes to reduce bulk, add stability,and add visual interest.

-Demonstrations on how to to select and prepare traditional facings

-French bias bindings, and piped seams. (coordinating neckline finishes based upon weight of fabric and stabilizing necklines).

-How to alter and stitch a princess bust seam.

-How to alter and stitch darts.

Requirements:
Vogue Pattern #8997 and Instructional Workbook- Provided by the Instructor as a $8 Fee Suggested Fabric: Light weight fabrics such as- Cotton Sateen, Cotton Voile Optional: if your dress fabric is sheer, we recommend 3 yards of a beige neutral lining 18
