Stained Glass Celtic Quilt

Let Mary Ann take you thru the techniques of how to create exquisite, interlacing
Celtic patterns more simply and quickly than ever before! This 25" X 25" wall hanging uses techniques
found in Beth Ann Williams instructional Celtic Quilt Book. This book is out of print but we have
received special permission to use the pattern for this class.
This class is for advanced beginner to intermediate quilters.

Class fee: $49.00 which includes the pattern

Beginner's Quilting "The Snapshot Quilt"

with Laurie Liang
Saturdays, Oct 18th from 12:30-4:30 and
Oct 25th & Nov 8th from 10:00-2:00

If you have some sewing experience and would love to learn to make a
quilt, this class is for you! You'll make this charming quilt that has nice
details and is a great project for the beginner quilter. Laurie will take you from
start to finish in creating a throw size, 48" X 57" quilt. You'll learn to construct
the quilt top, layer it, tie it and bind it. The book is required for this class and
is included in the class fee.
Class fee: $99.00 which includes the $15 book

The Expandable Bag

This expandable bag really wowed everyone when Mary brought it into in the store. 
The cleverly placed zippers expand the bag to allow for extra roominess while keeping
an elegant look.  Decorative stitching adds a lot of flare to complete the look.

4D Embroidery Software Club
"All About Quilts"

This month Aarona will be teaching how to make quilt squares using the designs in the
4D Software. Learn to use the decorative machine stitches, create shapes and put them together
to create beautiful blocks that can be used in a quilt. The discussion will also include how to add
quilting elements such a stippling, to an overall design.
Class fee; $18.00

"Block of the Month"
Pieced Sampler Quilt

Friday, November 21st. from 10:30-1:00

Classes are one Friday per month from 10:30-1:00.
This is an ongoing year long series where you can sharpen
your piecing skills. You will be creating 9 inch finished blocks
with sampler 6 inch center designs. A new pattern will be
introduced each month. This is an open-ended series where
you can pick up and join whenever you want.

Class Fee: $20 per month attended

3D/4D Embroidery Software Club
With Aarona Weinberg

4D is machine embroidery software that can be used with any brand of embroidery
sewing machine. These classes are open to all, no matter where you bought it.
Sew Right's 4D software club is held monthly and is for those who own 4D software.
The first part of the class is for answering your questions either about what we
did the previous month or about using the software in general, followed by a project
that helps to learn different parts of the software.
You may bring your laptop or just watch and learn.


Software Project for November
"Growth Chart
"
Sunday, November 2nd from 11:00-1:00




We ran this class is September and are running it again for those who missed it.
Learn to make an adorable growth chart that would make a great gift for any child.
Aarona will review how to use the software to create this embroidery design while
creating other elements of the growth chart. You would need to have either
4d Pro or Embroidery Extra for this class.
We will be using a Dakota Collectible embroidery design CD and creating other elements
of the growth chart using the 4D software features.
We will not be doing the embroidery stitching in class, only creating a portion of the
chart. You would then go home and use what you've learned to complete and stitch
the chart out. Bring it back the following month to show us what you've done and go
over any problems you encountered.


Class fee for November is only $53.30, including the $39.95 Dakota CD.
(if you already own the CD, the class fee is $18.00)

Take the Fear Out of Free Motion

With Elaine Jansen
Friday, November 7th From 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM

As everybody’s handwriting style is unique, so is your free motion quilting. 
Elaine will assist you in developing your special style of free motion quilting. 
During this session, you will be given exercises to get you comfortable in sewing without restraints. 
This is a liberating way of doing free motion.  Elaine will provide participants with a kit that
will include thread, fabric, and batting.

Class Fee: $29, plus kit fee of $20

Quilt Adventure for November:
Easy Curved Piecing

Quilt adventure is a monthly lecture/demo and at times hands on class that features
new quilting techniques. This is a lively class that we've been running for the past couple of years.
If you love to quilt or have been thinking of taking up this great hobby, this class is for you!

Class topic: Easy Curved Piecing

Using techniques shared by Kathy Bowers in her book “Stitch, Spritz, and Sew,”
Laurie will demonstrate her method for making curve –pieced quilts in a fast and easy way. 
Learn how to incorporate curved piecing in some your block designs.

Class Fee: $8

The Tailored Jacket
with Kenneth D. King

Sundays, November 9, 16, 23 from 10:00-4:00

Come create a working sample of a notch lapel jacket incorporating
all the pattern pieces, linings and interfacings you need for a perfect tailored
jacket. You will make a half jacket, which you will be able to use for reference
later. Follow Kenneth as he constructs his half jacket right along with you.
There are teachers and then there is Kenneth. Those who have taken his classes know that
it is worth every penny for his expertise. Couture designer, former TV personality, master instructor
at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), author of great books, featured instructor on patternreview.com

Note: Our monthly embroidery classes are open to all who own a sewing and
embroidery machine with a minimum 5" X 7" embroidery field. Please check with us

Beginner's Sewing Workshop
with Pat Freeman

3 Saturdays
November 22nd, December 6th & 13th from 10:00-3:00


Besides being one of the best sewers we have encountered, Pat has the ability to make
learning to sew fun and easy. A great person to lead you into this wonderful skill and hobby!
In this workshop for beginners or those returning to sewing Pat will lead you thru constructing
a fashionable uni-sex kimono style robe. This wrap robe has extended shoulders, patch pockets,
front and neckline band and tie belt. A great first project for both males and females.

Class fee: $125 includes the sewing pattern for the robe

Roman Shades

Fridays, December 5th & 12th from 2:00-4:00pm

In this class Corinne will show you how to make an operational roman shade that is
either rigid or relaxed. Learn how to properly measure your window and determine how
to mount your completed shade! You will end up with a beautiful professional looking
shade for a fraction of the cost.

Sewing Basics for Beginners

An introduction to sewing and your sewing machine
with Jessica Rojas and Harvey Federman
Sunday, December 7th from 11:30-2:30

Do you have a machine that you received from your Target, Costco, Walmart or your Aunt?
Lot's of people contact us every week and tell us they have a machine and have no idea
how to use it. If you'd like to learn to use yours and start sewing than this is the class is for you!
For the first 45 minutes or so Harvey will cover sewing machine basics, including threading,
winding bobbins, needles, threads and caring for your machine.
Then Jessica will take you through the steps of making a polar fleece poncho using a pattern.
She will also share tips on how to add additional flair to your garment once you've
mastered this project. A great introduction to this wonderful hobby!
Class fee: $39.00 includes the pattern

December Quilt Adventure
Our Annual Trash or Treasure Holiday Auction

Our Fundraiser to help feed the homeless at
"The Bowery Mission"
Wednesday, Dec. 10th from 10:30-12:00

We wanted to get our customers together at this time of year to have a
wonderful time, while raising money for the homeless of NYC. Elaine suggested doing her
"Trash or Treasure Auction".  What a great idea it was, as we raised a few hundred dollars that first year!
The Auction works like this.
Each participant brings in two items they'd like to contribute to the auction.
The can include fabric scraps, unfinished sewn objects, orphan blocks and quilting/sewing notions.
One persons trash is another persons treasure!
No real money is exchanged. You will receive "Quilt Adventure Bucks" to bid with.
Our morning Breakfast Buffet will be served.

Suggested donation to participate is $10.00 and up.
Sew Right will match the total of all donations up to $250.
All proceeds will be donated to The Bowery Mission so the the homeless of NYC can
have a hot, holiday meal and warm clothing.
